Position SummaryThe Medical Radiology Tutor (SPACE Center) provides tutoring and study support services for all courses in the AAS and Certificate Medical Radiologic Technology Program throughout the five semesters of the MRT Program based on grant funding. Tutoring may be conducted in person, virtually via Zoom, and through Blackboard, with additional support at LSCC designated x‑ray laboratories. Medical Radiology Tutors do not deliver instruction;
they provide tutorial support for specific content areas and students in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the college.

Schedule:
Local Salary Schedule ($19.76 per hour up to 19 hours per week); this position is subject to grant funding.
This is a grant‑funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon funding from the grant. Non‑probationary status is not attainable by employment in this position, the funding and duration of which are finite.
- Provide academic assistance to assigned students, either in a group or individual setting.
- Assist students in achieving a better understanding of a specific subject area and improving academic capabilities.
- Attend periodic training or orientation sessions as required by faculty or director.
- Provide evaluations and other reports as requested.
- Document student progress.
- Assist students with the development of study skills necessary for academic success.
- Help foster positive attitudes toward learning and studying.
- Motivate and support students’ achievement and success.
- Establish and maintain rapport with assigned students.
- Serve as a role model for students receiving services.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Ensure successful performance, retention, and graduation of Radiologic Tech students.
- Monitor academic progress and contact faculty and staff throughout the semester as necessary to assist students.
- Uphold professional ethical standards that do not breach confidentiality and student relationships.
- Maintain an appropriate work schedule to accommodate participants.
- Provide data to the Director when requested and in accordance with program requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Standards, and Training – Associate’s degree or higher with current credentials in Radiography (ARRT).
Required License, Certifications, or Special Credentials – Credentials in Radiography with the ARRT.
Other Qualifications and Job Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility within the work environment; tutoring dates and times may vary and must be outside of the scheduled RAD Tech course hours.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Display a cooperative and approachable attitude and demeanor.
- Ability to effectively operate and utilize a computer and the internet.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Zoom, and Blackboard (preferred).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and/or weekends as needed.
- A willingness to take initiative and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to develop, interpret, and apply policies and procedures; research and analyze information; and prepare, present, and review oral and written reports.
- Ability to contribute to customer service initiatives for clients and campus community.
