Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer
Salary: Competitive salary based on experience
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a fulltime benefitted position who is early in their career and interested in working alongside senior staff performing product engineering-related estimating; and growing into either a Sr. Estimator role or Sales Engineer role supporting the sales group.
Our client is an established and successful company with a rich 50-year history serving the hydronic sector (e.g. systems that use liquid water or steam to transfer heat) for very large industrial applications.
This position is an 'onsite' role located in Trussville, AL.
Responsibilities- Analyze project plans, specifications, and drawings to prepare detailed cost estimates
- Perform material quotes for motors, valves, piping, steam systems, and related equipment, including labor take-offs
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors during the estimating and preconstruction phases
- Ensure estimates align with client budgets, project timelines, and technical specifications
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options
- Maintain up-to-date cost databases and estimating tools
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 1‑2 years of work experience in mechanical estimating, preferably
- Any knowledge of mechanical equipment, piping systems, pressure vessels, ASME code
- Proficiency with any estimating software
- Solid understanding of blueprints, schematics, and construction documentation
- Strong analytical and communication skills
