Overview
CDM Smith is hiring Automation and Instrumentation & Controls Engineers. We are looking for engineers with experience in designing and implementing SCADA systems, controls and instrumentation in the process industries, with a track record of delivering quality work on time and on budget. We have multiple openings to support public, private, and federal clients globally with all phases of SCADA automation projects.
Responsibilities- With general direction, design instrumentation, controls and related systems using 3D and 4D drafting programs. Develop basic technical memoranda and preliminary design reports under limited supervision. Coordinate designs reconciliation with clients.
- Review component-level shop drawings. Respond to RFIs under supervision. Perform field acceptance testing (FATs) and field inspections.
- Design human-machine interface (HMI), PLCs, reports, etc. Prepare level of effort estimates (LOEs).
- Lead testing and startup teams for basic to moderately complex instrumentation and controls independently, ensure testing and startup documentation completion and quality assurance.
- Independently develop operations & maintenance manuals and end-user training for designed systems.
- Lead and mentor junior staff; review work as necessary.
- Under general supervision, prepare proposal sections and presentations.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or in Engineering Technology or related discipline. Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- 7 years of related experience. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency depends on duties and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Water/Wastewater is highly preferred.
- Experience with in an engineering and/or integration firm is highly preferred.
