Acuren is seeking a Computer Operator / AutoCAD Technician for operations in the Birmingham, AL area. This will be a callout/travel position.
Successful candidates must be able to travel up to 90% throughout Birmingham, AL, and surrounding areas. The environments will include agricultural, petro-chemical, chemical, pulp & paper, gas plants, refineries, pipelines, and pharmaceutical facilities.
The AutoCAD 2D / 3D Operator will develop detailed design models and drawings for piping and vessels, ensuring technical accuracy, and convert field ISO sketches into AutoCAD. The role also involves entering technical data into the mechanical integrity data management system.
Responsibilities- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, and related data to assess factors affecting the structure of piping and vessels, and the procedures to be followed.
- Utilize 3D laser scan point cloud data to generate 3D models, 2D isometrics, and perform P& / PFD validation.
- Consult with client representatives to review schematics and clarify results.
- Develop detailed AutoCAD drawings from sketches and notes.
- Review contract documents with team members and check drawings for accuracy and coordination.
- Assist in gathering information visually and with measuring equipment at client facilities.
- Enter data into the mechanical integrity data management system.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2-year degree in Mechanical Drafting, CAD, or a related discipline
- Experience in industrial drafting
- Proficiency in CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, Plant3D, Cad Worx, etc.
- Knowledge of commercial planning and design
- Experience with CAD related to pressure vessels and piping
- Knowledge of API codes and NDT principles
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point
- Experience with photo editing software like Photo Shop
