Aircraft Inspector Job Description
The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and company standards. This role includes scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in hangar environments, real‑time line maintenance, and rapid‑response AOG support.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough inspections of aircraft components, systems, and equipment to ensure compliance with aviation safety standards.
- Review maintenance records and repair logs to verify proper procedures were followed and documented.
- Identify defects or deviations from specifications and recommend corrective actions.
- Use precision tools like calipers, micrometers, and borescopes to measure and assess parts.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with FAA, EASA, or other aviation authorities.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve quality issues and improve inspection processes.
- Document inspection findings and maintain detailed reports for audits and certification.
- Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Knowledge of aviation regulations and quality assurance protocols.
- Experience with inspection tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Technical understanding of aircraft systems (mechanical, electrical, structural).
- Strong communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- Certifications such as FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license are often preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years aircraft maintenance experience.
- A&P License.
- Commercial aircraft experience is preferred.
- Experience in line maintenance and AOG is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow Tech Manuals.
- Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must have own tools (they do not have to be shadowed and etched).
- Previous quality experience is required.

Work EnvironmentThe work is primarily conducted in a hangar environment with a current day shift from Monday to Friday. There is potential for adding a 2nd and 3rd shift, with a preference for candidates who are flexible with their shift availability.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
