For over 60 years, UAB Callahan Eye has been dedicated to preserving and restoring the vision of our patients, transforming the future of eye care, and curing the world’s blinding diseases. It is one of the busiest eye care centers in the nation, annually performing more than 15,000 surgeries and completing more than 120,000 clinic visits. The center provides everything from preventive and routine eye care to 24/7 emergency treatment of eye trauma at the nation’s only freestanding Level 1 Ocular Trauma Center, and is committed to delivering innovation at every level of eye care and critical research.
Job DescriptionTo process, analyze and ensure all medical records are complete within the required time frame; to ensure the integrity of the electronic medical record through data analysis, review and reporting; to provide a timely response for requests for medical information according to departmental and hospital release of information guidelines.
Qualifications- Associate’s degree from an accredited Health Information Technology program required. Experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
- Currently certified or eligible to sit for the national exam for Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) required.
- If RHIT or RHIA eligible, certification must be obtained within six (6) months from the date of hire.
