Overview
Patient Encounter Specialist - General Pediatrics at UAB Medicine – full time role located at General Pediatrics, Park Place II. Responsibilities include patient check‑in/out, telephone routing, data entry, and follow‑up. ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision and UAHSF established policies, provide a variety of specialized services in support of the assigned clinic. Check in scheduled and add‑on patients, answer the phone and route calls, enter demographics and charge data into the system, check patients out, perform patient follow‑up, and perform clerical duties related to clinic revenue collection, deposit & reconciliation. Assist and respond to patient needs at the UAB Medicine Self Check‑In Kiosk and consistently demonstrate outstanding customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
One (1) year customer service experience required. Business Office Education or similar coursework desired. Must: attend all required coursework assigned by management; possess basic knowledge of medical terminology and advanced knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management; perform math and bookkeeping skills; possess exceptional telephone and customer service skills; be knowledgeable of English grammar & punctuation. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
