The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a STERILE SUPPLY TECHNICIAN‑SOD to operate all sterilizing equipment according to current regulations.
OverviewThis position plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient clinical environment. The Sterilization Technician ensures all dental instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use by faculty, staff, and students.
Responsibilities- To monitor and report technical problems with equipment and autoclaves.
- To keep proper inventory of sterilization chemicals and supplies.
- To collect, clean, decontaminate, disinfect and/or sterilize dental instruments, trays and packs, and patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure sterility and functionality of instruments and equipment.
- To hand wash and cold sterilize equipment as indicated per CDC sterilization guidelines.
(Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $16.14)
Qualifications- High School diploma or GED and one (1) year experience in Sterile Supply required.
- Currently Certified as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) with the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) preferred.
- Prior experience in a dental or medical setting is helpful, but not required; training is provided.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to follow strict protocols, and familiarity with infection control standards in a clinical or dental setting.
- Soft skills such as reliability, effective communication, and the ability to work well in a fast‑paced team environment are also highly valued.
