Medical Technologist - Blood Bank - Flexi​/PRN

Pay: $40.73 / hour

Our blood bank lab provides critical transfusion services in a high-acuity patient care environment. You’ll help process and issue blood products for trauma, surgery, transplant, oncology, and other complex cases while maintaining rigorous quality and safety standards. In this academic medical center environment, ideal candidates have strong judgment, attention to detail, and calm execution amidst rapid decision- making.

To perform, check accuracy and report results of routine and complex laboratory procedures on body tissues, fluids and other substances when received. To assist supervisor and/or team lead with evaluating new instruments and/or methods, reagent preparation, quality control information, troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance. To assist team lead with apheresis procedures, bone marrows, coordinating educational sessions, computer operations, and/or quality control/improvement activities within a section as needed.

Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or a related field and the completion of a twelve (12) month internship in a Medical Technology program approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or as a Medical Technologist (MT) with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) required. Students pursuing a Medical Technology degree must obtain degree within nine (9) months from date of hire.

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Certification from ASCP or AMT must be obtained within fifteen (15) months from date of hire. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required within thirty (30) days from date of hire depending on the type of patient related care performed.
