OverviewThe Data Analyst within the Estimating Department plays a critical role in transforming raw data into actionable insights that enhance cost modeling, forecasting, and strategic decision‑making. This position supports the development and continuous improvement of cost estimation systems, leveraging data analytics, automation, and AI to improve accuracy, efficiency, and cross‑departmental collaboration. The ideal candidate blends technical expertise in analytics with a strong understanding of construction, manufacturing, and cost estimating workflows.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain comprehensive cost databases, integrating Bills of Materials, historical cost benchmarks, and market pricing data across multiple U.S. regions.
- Support the creation of ground‑up and comparative cost models through advanced data analysis and visualization techniques.
- Leverage AI, machine learning, and statistical modeling to identify trends, enhance estimate accuracy, and optimize value engineering processes.
- Partner with Estimating, Design, Manufacturing, Construction, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to integrate cost, schedule, and risk data into enterprise platforms.
- Design and automate data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to streamline cost reporting, performance tracking, and KPI dashboards.
- Prepare and analyze conceptual, schematic, and GMP estimate data to support pre‑construction and client engagement activities.
- Develop and communicate risk analyses, pricing strategies, and value‑driven insights to support leadership decision‑making.
- Continuously improve data integrity, estimation accuracy, and reporting capabilities through feedback loops and predictive analytics.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and BI tools for data visualization and analytics.
- Strong understanding of cost modeling, estimating methodologies, and financial principles.
- Ability to interpret CAD, Revit, and Solid Works outputs to extract data for analytical use.
- Experience working with manufacturing or industrial data; familiarity with mechanical/electrical systems a plus.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to translate complex data into meaningful insights for technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Programming & Data:
Python, SQL, and data modeling; experience with distributed computing (Spark, Ray). - Analytics & AI:
Statistical modeling, predictive analytics, machine learning, and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG). - Data Engineering: ETL/ELT processes, schema evolution, data validation, and integration with enterprise systems.
- Visualization:
Development of interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
