As a Software Engineer Principal within PNC's Data Products organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Strongsville, OH, Dallas, TX, or Birmingham, AL.

The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.

• Designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines using cloud platforms and big data technologies
• Developing and optimizing data warehousing solutions to ensure high availability and performance
• Implementing data modeling techniques to support analytics and reporting needs
• Ensuring data quality, governance, and compliance across all data processes
• Collaborating with business analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data solutions
• Leveraging cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) to build robust data architectures
• Utilizing Dev Ops practices and CI/CD tools to automate and streamline data workflows
• Monitoring and maintaining data systems, implementing alerting mechanisms to ensure reliability
• Participating in Agile/SAFe ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand‑ups, and retrospectives

• Proven expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Flink)
• Experience with data governance, quality management, and compliance

• Proficiency in programming languages such as PySpark, Scala, SQL, and Java
• Strong experience with ETL processes, data modeling, and data warehousing
• Familiarity with Dev Ops tools and CI/CD workflows (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools for data systems
• Experience with mainframe technologies and COBOL is a plus

• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering high‑quality solutions
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, Agile/SAFe environment

• Certifications such as AWS Certified Data Engineer, Agile/SAFe Practitioner, or Apache Hadoop
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow)
• Background in working with large‑scale, distributed systems

Base Salary: $65,000.00 – $. Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
