Our client, a highly respected and long‑established Birmingham‑based professional services firm with an exceptional reputation, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This is a key leadership role within a polished, professional, and stable environment, ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who values excellence, discretion, and long‑term impact.

• Oversee the full accounting function, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, taxes, and general ledger
• Lead the month‑end and year‑end close processes and prepare timely, accurate financial statements
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for the firm
• Oversee equity partner distributions and related reporting
• Ensure compliance with all tax, regulatory, and internal control requirements
• Supervise and mentor three staff‑level accountants, providing leadership, guidance, and development
• Partner with firm leadership to support strategic and financial decision‑making
• Continuously improve processes while maintaining the firm’s high standards and professional culture

• Minimum of 8 years of overall accounting experience
• CPA license required
• At least 3 years of management or supervisory experience
• Strong background overseeing a full accounting function; professional services experience is a plus
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and partners
