Executive Leadership Development Program

Think Like an Owner. Lead Like an Executive.

The Opportunity

Champion Care is developing the next generation of healthcare executives through its Administrator in Training (AIT) Executive Leadership Development Program. We are seeking ambitious business operators, general managers, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders who want to apply their financial judgment, people leadership, and operational expertise to an individual skilled nursing facility. Think like an owner. Lead like an executive.

Your Central And Northern Alabama Training Territory

This Birmingham-area opening trains across Champion Care facilities serving Birmingham, Bessemer, and Russellville. Participating facilities include Everstead, Northgate, Redmont, and Stonehaven.

You will travel regularly across Birmingham and Bessemer operations with additional travel to Russellville. This is a multi-facility field development position, not a single-site desk job.

After licensure, candidates must be willing to relocate anywhere in Alabama for consideration for an available permanent NHA opportunity.

What You Will Do and Learn
  • Business and financial operations:
Read profit and loss (P&L) statements, analyze budgets and key performance indicators, understand reimbursement and payer mix, and make informed operating decisions.
  • Labor and workforce management:
Evaluate staffing, scheduling, overtime, agency utilization, labor productivity, recruitment, and retention.
  • Executive leadership:
Coach department leaders, build engaged teams, create accountability, manage performance, and develop a positive workplace culture.
  • Healthcare operations:
Learn skilled nursing facility operations, resident experience, quality assurance, survey readiness, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with clinical leaders.
  • Growth and strategy:
Understand admissions, census, occupancy, referral development, and practical business improvement initiatives.
Who We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, finance, accounting, operations management, or a related discipline preferred; MBA, MHA, or other relevant master's degree highly desirable.
  • Experience as a business operator, general manager, department leader, multi-unit manager, entrepreneur, or healthcare leader preferred.
  • Ability to lead teams, interpret financial and operating results, solve problems, and take accountability for outcomes.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and genuine commitment to employees and resident care.
  • Previous skilled nursing experience is welcome but is not required when state licensure eligibility requirements are met.
Compensation and Executive Career Path
  • Administrator in Training salary: $70,000 annually, full-time.
  • Most permanent Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) opportunities start at $100,000+ annually, depending on location, facility size, and responsibilities.
  • Licensed NHAs who lead their own skilled nursing facility are eligible for Champion Care’s industry-leading profit-sharing program, subject to applicable program terms. Profit sharing is not available to AIT participants.
  • Advancement into a permanent NHA position requires successful training, licensure, selection, and an available opportunity; a particular placement or compensation level is not guaranteed.
Alabama NHA Licensure Eligibility

Applicants must be eligible for the Alabama Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators-approved training and licensure pathway. Educational preferences in this posting do not replace state licensing requirements.

Why Champion Care?

Learn alongside experienced Nursing Home Administrators and operational leaders while developing the business, leadership, and healthcare expertise to run an individual multimillion-dollar skilled nursing facility. Build strong teams, improve operating results, and help deliver exceptional resident care.
