Position

Description

The primary responsibility of the Quality Engineer – Receiving Inspection is to develop and maintain a comprehensive receiving inspection process. Potential non‑conformities of supplied material must be identified at the point of receipt at the Autocar.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Receiving Inspection process.
  • Identify non‑conformities at the earliest point of receiving supplied material.
  • Ensure all received material meets Autocar specific standards/requirements and Truck manufacturing industry standards.
  • Investigate any non‑conformity; produce written reports detailing the non‑conformity and communicate within 24 h to Autocar Quality Management and the Supplier.
  • Inform suppliers via the Autocar SCAR portal of the non‑conformance.
  • Develop inspection and test procedures used for training of hourly associates.
  • Maintain accurate records of all inspection results.
  • Serve as contact person for supplier inquiries regarding written SCARs.
  • Develop product sampling plans.
  • Design and implement equipment and system layouts, assisting with technical operations and implementing changes to planning, production processes, materials and resource allocation to improve production efficiency, reduce waste and enhance quality.
  • Conduct investigations, generate and test hypotheses, and use engineering theories and principles to improve and update operational systems, manage materials, allocate and track resources, plan pre‑emptive maintenance, and document procedures and processes.
  • Implement continuous improvements to operational quality, efficiency, production team performance and costs.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize operating and system trends.
  • Team with and provide engineering direction to engineers, quality control specialists, logistics specialists, technicians and others to increase operational efficiency, fine‑tune systems, enhance innovation, correct errors and establish best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering.
  • Experience in warehousing and/or receiving inspection processes.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments, preferably assembly in the automotive or heavy truck industry.
  • Understanding of operations, design instructions and diagrams, Autocar part drawings and specifications.
  • Strong research, analysis, problem‑solving and reporting skills.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable in a fast‑paced environment with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Production‑oriented and hands‑on.
  • Effective communicator across all levels of the organization.
  • Access to Excel/ MS Office proficiency.
Physical Requirements
  • Capable of wearing task‑specific personal protective equipment (dust mask, respirator, safety shoes, gloves, glasses, ear protection).
  • Meet OSHA manual lifting guidelines: stand, walk, use hands or arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch as needed.
  • Stand and/or walk for extended periods.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
