WhatYou'll Do
- Assist maintenance personnel when requested or needed
- Work safely to prevent job‑site injuries by following safety rules and wearing company PPE
- Be alert of unsafe conditions and report them immediately
- Communicate effectively with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
- Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
- Carry out tasks and activities directed by operations support management in a safe and timely manner
- Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs without assistance from maintenance personnel
- Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures to support continuous improvement
- Maintain daily housekeeping duties for the immediate work area
- Troubleshoot work‑related problems using job knowledge and experience
- Understand startup, shutdown, and emergency procedures
- Ensure bundle count and bundle tagging accuracy
- Participate in changeovers and resolve rolling mill upset conditions
- Enter data in SAP/QMOS
- Assist with shear changes and adjust shear to specified length
- Fully understand crane operations and functions
- Operate overhead remote crane
- Verify daily calibrations
- Assist with billet inspections and heat separations
- Work as a team player in a fast‑paced environment with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Work in conditions with extremes in temperature, chemical exposure, dust, fumes, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
- Basic computer skills
- Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
- Quick learning and multitasking ability
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Some overtime will be required
- Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays
- Assist the department to meet quality and KPI goals and requirements
- Assist in additional tasks as assigned by leadership
- Assist with all furnace repairs and preventive maintenance on downdays
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
