RN - Registered Nurse - Neurology and Stroke Surgical Unit (NSSU)

Join UAB Medicine as an RN in our Neurology Stroke Surgical Stepdown Unit. The position offers a competitive pay range and multiple shift options.

• Pay range: $30.00 - $48.00 per hour
• Shifts:
  
  full‑time and part‑time AM/PM, weekend AM/PM, flexi/PRN
• Schedules: 7 a.m.–7 p.m., 7 p.m.–7 a.m.

Utilize the nursing process to care and counsel individuals in the promotion and maintenance of health and the prevention of illness and injury. Provide data gathering, assessment, nursing judgment, intervention, and evaluation of patient responses, including health teaching and counseling, to support recovery in a neurological and stroke context. Coordinate all aspects of nursing care, delegate, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team—including physicians, psychologists, podiatrists, and dentists—to deliver timely, cost‑effective care for patients and their families.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program required; bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Current Alabama Board of Nursing license or eligibility for licensure required.
• BLS certification required or to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS and/or PALS certification may be required depending on unit needs.
• Experience in neurocritical care, stepdown units, or post‑neurosurgery care preferred.
