Overview
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - $5,000 Hiring Incentive at Noland Health Services, Inc. This role provides nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, contributing to assessments, plan of care, implementation, and evaluation of patient responses to interventions.
Responsibilities- Contribute to nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data.
- Observe and report changes in patient condition and signs and symptoms of deviations from normal health status.
- Participate in development and modification of the Nursing Care Plan by providing data; use data to plan and prioritize work.
- Document patient/family/significant other involvement in the medical record.
- Identify appropriate nursing interventions to maintain comfort and support human functions and responses.
- Assist with discharge planning.
- Perform assigned nursing procedures for patient comfort and well-being.
- Assist patients with ambulation and assist with prescribed exercises, turning, massages, backrubs, and repositioning as needed.
- Monitor and record vital signs, neurological and neurovascular checks; identify and report abnormalities.
- Perform 12-lead EKGs, apply electrodes for cardiac monitoring, and document accordingly.
- Interpret common cardiac rhythms and report significant findings.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed; verify feeding tube placement and administer tube feedings.
- Monitor oxygen therapy for safety and effectiveness.
- Assist with nursing care procedures such as airway suctioning, procedures related to respiratory care, and other appropriate treatments.
- Care for elimination needs, including enemas, irrigations, ostomy care, and urinary catheterizations.
- Collect and label specimens; deliver as necessary; monitor and record fluid balance (intake and output).
- Assist with IV therapy per hospital policy and ABN guidelines; perform venipunctures; manage IV care and tubing; maintain NG tubes per policy.
- Administer medications in accordance with policies and legal limitations; document and monitor for reactions.
- Apply treatments, dressings, or corrective devices as ordered.
- Ensure restraint orders are properly written and renewed; assist in identifying alternatives to restraint use and reducing restraint use where appropriate.
- Monitor and record blood glucose using a glucometer.
- Transcribe physicians’ orders onto MAR Kardex; follow order verification with RN oversight.
- Document nursing interventions and patient responses (progress, medications, treatments, vital signs, I&O, etc.).
- Explain nursing interventions and provide appropriate education to patient and/or responsible person; document education appropriately.
- Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens according to standards.
- Monitor skin integrity, report abnormalities, and assist with wound care and follow-up orders.
- Assess and manage patient pain using standard scales and intervene promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Must be currently licensed as an LPN by the State of Alabama.
ExperienceMinimum of one year experience; hospital experience strongly preferred.
