Job DescriptionTo direct operations of specific, inpatient nursing unit(s) with scope score range from 20 to 29 as defined in the UAB Medicine Nurse Manager Recruitment and Retention Plan. To ensure quality patient care, competent and responsible personnel, cost efficiency and effective utilization of unit resources to support the values and goals of UAB Hospital. To promote satisfaction and effective communication with patients/families, staff, physicians and other departments, promote staff development, and schedule nursing staff.
To be responsible for 24‑hour, 7 days a week unit coverage. To interview and recommend hiring of qualified candidates, ensure orientation of new staff, evaluate performance of staff, recommend staff promotion, discipline, and conduct terminations as necessary. To develop annual budget for unit(s), detail needs for capital equipment and personnel resources, and complete special projects or assignments as requested.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing with Master's degree in Nursing or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Prior Leadership experience preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
