Captain - Protective Security Officer (FPS) – Birmingham, AL

Job Summary: The Captain protects the principal against potential threats, manages federal building access control, monitors surveillance, and leads a team of Protective Security Officers.

• Protect the principal against possible threats.
• Control federal building access, conduct employee and visitor identification checks, and monitor security equipment.
• Perform roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property.
• Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activities.
• Provide detailed daily activity reports and incident documentation.
• Operate magnetometer and X‑ray machines effectively.
• Use two‑way radios and other communication devices clearly.
• Leverage listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures.
• Perform CPR or first aid when necessary.
• Maintain credentials per contract requirements.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Project Manager.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with a verifiable honorable discharge from any U.S. Armed Forces component.
• Valid Social Security Card.
• Minimum two (2) years armed security experience or one (1) year full‑service law‑enforcement experience.
• Minimum two (2) years service in the U.S. Armed Forces with honorable discharge.
• Fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and compose written reports in English.
• At least three years of managing multiple facilities with a minimum of 30+ direct reports.
• Demonstrated ability to qualify with a semi‑automatic weapon.
• Strong relevant knowledge of the security industry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer service‑driven mindset.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of internal and external customers.
• Experience with Win Team and eHub is a plus.

• Perform tasks requiring frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day.
• Maintain contact with the public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, speaking clearly and calmly in stressful situations.
• Remain on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without a break.
• Remain alert up to 12 hours, reacting quickly to unexpected and dangerous situations.
• Subdue violent or potentially violent individuals and intervene in crises.
• Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, and climbing stairs.

• At least 2 years of college.
• Associate’s Degree.
• High School Diploma/GED.

• All required PSO training and certifications.
• CPR/First Aid.
• Baton.
• Initials Weapon Training.
• O.C. aerosol spray.
• Basic Training Exhibits 72/64 hours.

Compensation: $87,019.00 - $95,720.00 per year.
