Structured Cabling Technician

The position is located in Birmingham, Alabama. It is a full‑time role that requires occasional overtime and brief travel throughout Alabama and neighboring states, with paid lodging and per‑diem.

Compensation is based on a combination of knowledge, experience, and ability.

• Minimum 5 years of verifiable experience in low‑voltage/telecommunications field.
• BICSI credentials considered a plus.
• High degree of low‑voltage knowledge required.
• Experience with LAN, inter‑building backbone, security, and audio/video cabling.
• Proficient in installation of UTP, fiber optic, multi‑conductor copper cabling, testing/certifying permanent links, and preparing installation and quality assurance reports.
• Ability to interact with project managers and engineers, conduct surveys, plan tasks, and manage a crew of installers.
• Verifiable credentials supporting knowledge and experience; character references will be verified.
• Familiarity with industry‑recognized certification and test equipment.
• Basic computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Pre‑hire drug screen, background, and DMV checks required.
• Commitment to a safe working environment and completion of job‑site safety reports.
• Knowledge of safe use of portable ladders and elevated work platforms.

• Lift and move loads up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and work in tight and confined spaces.
• Prolonged standing periods.
• Work in industrial environments with varying heat and cold.
• Safe operation of drills, saws, and hand tools.
• Comfortable working at heights from portable ladders and platforms.

• Good communication skills.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Basic mathematics proficiency.
• Ability to distinguish industry‑recognized colors.
