Senior Estimator – General Contractor
We are a medium‑sized general contractor operating in multiple states, serving multi‑family, commercial, senior living, and health club projects. We’re looking for a Senior Estimator to lead our estimating department and drive profitable project execution.
Base Pay Range$120,000 – $150,000 per year, plus bonus and truck allowance.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and contracts to identify potential cost factors and evaluate their impact on the overall project budget.
- Lead the bid process, including preparing bid packages, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids, and presenting final bids to clients and management.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to develop cost‑effective design and construction solutions.
- Conduct risk analysis to identify and mitigate potential cost overruns and project delays.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and construction materials and methods to ensure accurate and competitive cost estimates.
- Provide ongoing cost tracking and management throughout the project lifecycle to ensure budget compliance and profitability.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial construction estimating experience.
- Proven track record as a lead or chief estimator.
- Expert knowledge of commercial estimating techniques, software, and databases.
- Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, contracts, and bidding processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills; ability to interface with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
