With operations in Detroit and Romania, we serve the motor sport, automotive, and industrial sectors, delivering high-performance solutions through agile development and lean, turnkey manufacturing.

Job Summary

As the Director of Engineering for Neoniq USA LLC, you will lead Neoniq’s global engineering organization with full responsibility for the technical development and execution of customer programs involving advanced material components — with a specific focus on composite structures and hybrid-material assemblies. This leader will oversee the engineering of lightweight, high-performance components across motor sport, automotive, and industrial applications, ensuring Neoniq delivers cost-effective, precision-engineered solutions at speed and scale.

This role is central to Neoniq’s mission as a vertically integrated design-to-delivery partner, specializing in composites, precision tooling, and advanced material manufacturing. It excludes visual design, branding, or styling functions, which falls under Design and Brand function.

Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership in Composites & Advanced Materials
  • Own the engineering strategy and execution for composite and advanced material products, from concept through to production release.
  • Lead structural and mechanical design for fiber-reinforced components (RTM, prepreg, SMC, and hybrid solutions).
  • Ensure materials, layup schedules, tooling designs, and cure processes meet strength, weight, cost, and cycle time targets.
  • Validate designs through FEA, mechanical testing, and process simulation.
  • Oversee the implementation of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to proactively identify and mitigate potential product risks.
  • Guide all engineering deliverables for customer programs, including BoMs, CAD, GD&T, FEA, and DFMEA documentation.
  • Oversee DFM/DFA integration for composite, injection‑molded, and metal‑hybrid parts.
  • Ensure successful design transfer into production in close collaboration with Operations.
  • Coordinate closely with Program Management to hit timing and budget targets.
  • Build and manage an expert engineering team across Detroit and Romania.
  • Set clear performance expectations and mentor engineers in composite design, tooling, and manufacturing integration.
  • Establish standardized workflows using CAD (Solid Works, CATIA), PLM (Teamcenter), and ERP (Epicor).
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Support Business Development in early‑stage technical discussions, estimating, and customer engagement.
  • Partner with Quality and Production teams to ensure engineering solutions are robust, inspectable, and scalable.
  • Align with Creative Design to ensure technical feasibility of visual design solutions for customer products.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
  • Minimum 10+ years of engineering experience with a strong focus on composite materials and manufacturing.
  • Deep knowledge of resin systems, fiber architectures, mold design, and process‑specific design constraints (RTM, autoclave, infusion, SMC, etc.).
  • Experience bringing complex composite products from concept to production in a high‑performance or regulated environment.
  • Strong background in CAD, structural analysis (FEA), and engineering documentation.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams in the development and execution of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to proactively identify and mitigate manufacturing risks, ensuring alignment with APQP standards and improving process reliability.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead global teams and manage complex technical programs.
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent; establish high standards for quality, speed, and creativity.
  • Set departmental goals aligned with Neoniq’s broader product engineering and operational strategy.
  • Manage departmental budget and allocate resources to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery.
  • Willingness to travel globally as required up to 40%.
Additional Responsibilities
