Semi Senior Accountant
Birmingham (Hybrid)
Salary up to £35,000 (DOE)
Butler Rose, public practice is delighted to be supporting one of our clients, a well established firm based in Birmingham. They have a great opportunity for a Semi Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a great career growth and development opportunity.
Role Requirements- Assisting in the management of a small portfolio of clients and taking responsibility for ensuring their bookkeeping, management reporting, statutory accounts and any ad‑hoc tasks are prepared to a high standard and on a timely basis.
- Preparation of management accounts and reports.
- Preparation of VAT returns.
- Working with the client managers to understand the client's requirements and identifying areas where more detailed advice may be required.
- Identify opportunities for any additional services that clients may need and liaise with subject specialists.
- Supporting junior members of staff with their training, including reviewing their bookkeeping.
- Preparation of billing proposals.
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in an Accountancy practice.
- ICAEW/ACCA (or equivalent) qualified or qualified by experience.
- Committed to maintaining technical knowledge to a high level.
- Competent in using MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Competent using Xero and accounting software such as Iris or similar.
- Self‑motivated and able to apply relevant skills to new scenarios.
- Good people and communication skills (including telephone manner).
- Ability to work under pressure with accuracy and focus.
- Ability to work within a team and to be able to complete tasks independently with little assistance.
- Demonstrates excellent analytical and research skills.
- Experience with reviewing work.
- Cashflow forecasting, tax management and budgetary control experience preferable.
- Sales invoicing and credit control experience preferable.
- Exposure to billing and understanding of commerciality.
