Lease Accountant

Join a stable,family-owned company in Birmingham as they build out a specialized accounting function around their growing rental fleet. This newly created role puts you at the center of the company’s equipment financing strategy — managing lease structures, asset life cycles, and lender reporting that directly support the business’s ability to grow its rental operations. You’ll partner closely with the Controller and step into a role designed specifically to let you specialize, not juggle generalist accounting duties.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Set up and maintain synthetic lease arrangements, including terms, payment schedules, and residual values
• Reconcile lease schedules to the general ledger
• Track asset lifecycle from acquisition through disposition
• Calculate and record depreciation on capitalized assets
• Analyze residual value assumptions and asset valuations
• Prepare schedules for audits, financial reporting, and lender reporting
• Perform profitability analysis on the rental fleet

What You’ll Need to Be Considered

• Extensive knowledge of synthetic leases and structured financing arrangements
• Strong understanding of ASC 842 lease accounting
• Background supporting asset-based lending or equipment financing
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
