Interim Assistant Capital​/Closedown Accountant

Location: Hybrid / Fully Remote

Hours: Full-Time or Part-Time Considered

• Support the Capital Accountant with the preparation of the Statement of Accounts, ensuring capital accounting disclosures and supporting schedules are completed accurately.
• Take ownership of a significant proportion of external audit queries, preparing working papers, evidence packs and responding to auditor requests.
• Maintain and reconcile capital accounting records, including fixed assets, capital grants, capital financing and capital expenditure.
• Assist with capital programme monitoring and reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with CIPFA Code requirements and Local Government accounting regulations.
• Work closely with the wider finance team to support the successful completion of year-end financial reporting.
• Previous experience working within Local Authority Finance

• Strong knowledge and practical experience of capital accounting
  .
• Experience supporting the preparation of final accounts / Statement of Accounts
  .
• Proven track record of dealing with external audit requirements and audit queries.
• Good understanding of the CIPFA Code of Practice and Local Government accounting standards.
• Ability to work independently and quickly add value within an established finance team.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
