Ward Clerk

Job Summary

Planned Care Unit has a vacancy for a part time Ward Clerk to work a Saturday. Hours will be between 08.00 and 16.00.

• Meet and greet patients in a friendly and professional manner.
• Maintain and update patient records and ward notes using the in‑house computer systems.
• Deal with telephone calls in a timely manner and use effective communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with patients on a daily basis.
• Photocopy, scan and prepare documentation for digital filing.
• Ensure patient confidentiality at all times in line with Trust policy and GDPR.
• Assist in the induction and development of others by demonstrating own duties.
• Liaise with clinical and nursing staff to complete daily ad hoc duties.

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in administration or equivalent hospital experience.
• Good standard of education to include Maths and English.

• Data entry and administration procedures.
• Knowledge of GDPR.
• Previous experience of working in a hospital environment.

• Proficient use of office equipment (email, photocopy, printing).
• Self‑management and ability to organise own time and daily tasks.
• Experience dealing with difficult situations.

• Working as part of a team.
• Flexibility and adaptability.

Band 2 – £24,465 a year pro rata (Fixed term, 6 months). Part‑time, Job share, Flexible working.
