Band 2 Ward Clerk - Patient Administration

Ward Clerks – Heartlands Hospital – part‑time, full‑time and fixed‑term posts (up to 12 months) available.

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and organised individuals to join our ward clerk team at Heartlands Hospital.

We are currently recruiting for several positions within Heartlands which include full‑time, part‑time posts (varying hours) and 1 fixed‑term post of one long day (11.5 hours per week).

As a Ward Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting the day‑to‑day administrative functions of a ward. You will act as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, helping to ensure the smooth running of the ward environment.

Main duties of the job
  • Greeting Patients, visitors and staff
  • Updating Oceano system with admissions/transfers/discharges
  • Booking appointments
  • Liaising with staff/relatives
  • Answering phones/buzzers
  • Lifting/carrying patient notes
  • Filing notes
  • Scanning

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment
  • A friendly and professional manner
  • Previous administrative or clerical experience (desirable, but not essential)

Qualifications
  • Good General Education (eg. GCSE English and Maths A-C) GCSE Level 9-4
Experience
  • Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
  • Experience of using IT systems
  • Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Experience of working in a busy environment
  • Experience of working in Healthcare

  • Confident in dealing with people at all levels
