The role

A vacancy has risen for a Paralegal to join our Insurance and Costs team within our Litigation, Advisory and Regulatory department.

The claims team acts for a wide range of private and public sector clients including insurance companies, local authorities, NHS Resolution and government bodies. We deal with claims arising from road traffic collisions, employers  and public liability and property damage claims, as well as insurance disputes and policy interpretation. Claims range in value from the low thousands to catastrophic claims with damages running to several million.

The costs team provides support across the firm to clients referred by other teams and we also received direct costs instructions from external clients. Costs support runs through the lifetime of claims from reserving, advice on costs budgets and commercial decision making to negotiation of costs on conclusion of litigation.

We are looking for a candidate to provide chargeable and non-chargeable support to colleagues in the team. This is a role primarily for the claims side of the team, although there will also be scope to assist colleagues on the costs side.

This role will include :

  • Management Information - maintaining integrity of data across the book of claims and reporting to clients using Excel and I-Sheets
  • Case management assistance - team critical date calendars, case timetables and compliance with directions
  • Assisting with disclosure and other procedural steps
  • CRU Registration and updating certificates
  • Claims Portal review and management
  • Arranging conferences and medical appointments
  • Dealing with court enquiries
  • Legal and case specific research
What we are looking for from you

The successful participant will possess the following skills:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage and prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work to quick turnarounds
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, both internally and client-facing
  • Ability to prioritise and adapt to competing timelines and tasks
  • Understanding of how to maintain data integrity
