Medical Receptionist

Job summary Church Road Surgery, based in Aston, Birmingham, is looking for a part time medical receptionist. The hours are to be worked over five days, however, flexibility is required to cover in the absence of the team. General practice experience is preferred, however not essential as full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job The main duties are to answer calls, book appointments, prepare prescriptions and input documents. You will need to be a good communicator, fluent in English, written and spoken, with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; especially under pressure. You will have a range of patient facing and administrative tasks, so excellent organisational skills and time management are critical.

To ensure that the reception area of the Practice runs smoothly, provides a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team

Duties and Responsibilities

• Making appointments and signposting patients
• Taking requests for prescriptions
• Ambulance transport bookings
• Recording home visit requests
• Dealing with general enquiries.
• Working with the wider NHS teams as needed
• Greet and direct patients and visitors
