A superb opportunity has come up to work for an independent manufacturing company that specialises in bespoke carton packaging since 1917. They are an innovative business that designs and engineers cartons, and they are seeking a proactive Business Development Manager who is ready to find leads, knock on doors, and prospect across the food, homecare, health, horticultural, DIY, pet care and engineering sectors.

£45,000 to £55,000, DOE, plus benefits package.

Birmingham (Hybrid Working)

Our client is offering a salary reflecting experience with a hybrid car, bonus based on performance or 1% on new business sales, 26 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension, profit sharing scheme, life insurance 3x salary, laptop, and phone.

Responsibilities
  • Find new leads, prospects and develop a pipeline to achieve £500,000 – £1,000,000 in new business.
  • Target the food, homecare, health, horticultural, DIY, pet care and engineering sectors.
  • Explore new markets, growth areas and trends; identify customers, partnerships and services.
  • Negotiate and commercial follow up with UK customers and expand into further markets.
  • Help the team meet and exceed department targets.
  • Participate in sales budget development, monitor revenue and margins, promote the company’s image and improve initiatives.
  • Prepare weekly reports on customer visits, pipeline and sales projections.
  • Maintain excellent communication channels internally and externally.
Essential
  • Minimum 1‑4 years in print & packaging.
  • Experience setting short, medium and long‑term new‑business targets as well as a strategic and consultative approach.
  • Capability to hit a new‑business target of £500,000 – £1,000,000 in the sectors listed.
  • Strong understanding of the UK market.
  • Passion for developing new business opportunities and building on successes.
  • Ability to nurture existing accounts and improve gross margins.
  • Business relationship building and customer‑service orientation.
  • High interest in the technical dimension of the products.
