Main duties of the job
  • Support the operational delivery of day‑to‑day reporting across the system, focusing on financial reporting, contracting monitoring and performance analysis. This includes:
    • Analyse utilisation of health and care resources at locality and neighbourhood level
    • Benchmark published productivity data and ICB/provider expenditure
    • Provide solid activity and costing data
    • In‑year monitoring of financial performance, including ERF and other activity monitoring
    • Provide provider and place‑based performance analytics against national standards, constitutional targets, and locally commissioned objectives
  • Build and maintain routine reports/dashboards (Power BI/Excel) for performance standards (RTT, A&E/UEC, diagnostics, cancer, mental health, primary care) to meet the ICB delivery plans and NHSE/I assurance programmes.
  • Analyse, interpret and present data to highlight issues, risks and support decision making.
  • Maintain metadata and data dictionaries; version control code/queries and manage a report/data library within the information environment.
  • Responsible for Acute Care Analytics.
  • Monitor data quality and completeness; raise anomalies early via agreed QA checklists, clean, join, validate and document data (e.g. SUS+, ECDS, RTT PTL, DM01, MHDS, eRS, GP appointment data).
  • Work with Information teams to develop business rules for automated data cleansing to ensure datasets are available with optimum data quality and that colleagues have access to robust information.
  • Implement proactive data quality monitoring with automated notification processes to provide timely alerts to data quality issues.
  • Promote analysis and evidence, ensuring the team's work is accessible and perceived as valuable.
  • Encourage system colleagues to draw on data, analysis and evidence in setting out and implementing their delivery plans.
  • Provide technical skills training to other staff.
  • Support the efficient use of team capacity by compiling with the management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all confidentiality and governance requirements within the department.

Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification, or significant experience of working at a similar level in a specialist area.
  • Post‑graduate degree in Management Studies or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
