Product Management – Assistant Vice President

Purpose of the role:
Manage and develop existing and new products and services, own customer and colleague journeys, set product strategy, drive change through execution teams, make key decisions across the product lifecycle, and own outcomes for customers, colleagues and the bank. This is achieved through appropriate service level agreements, regulatory compliance, risk management and controls.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Develop customer‑level strategies and solutions tailored to customer needs.
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert in the product/proposition team and advise stakeholders at all levels in the bank.
  • Develop product propositions and service strategy, define priorities, and lead execution of those priorities.
  • Create commercial and business models based on a strong understanding of the financial drivers of P&L for relevant segments/journeys.
  • Evaluate technical feasibility, legal compliance and potential risks associated with new product development and launch.
  • Monitor market trends and analyze feedback from internal employees and target customers through prototypes, user testing sessions and beta programs to refine the product or process before launch.
  • Manage comprehensive launch plans and technical deployments, establishing rollout timelines, marketing strategies, training initiatives and communication channels.
  • Monitor key metrics such as adoption rates, usage patterns, customer satisfaction (incl. complaints) and revenue generation to assess product performance against set goals.
  • Advise and influence decision‑making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with other functions and business divisions, lead a team performing complex tasks, set objectives, coach employees and manage performance appraisal and reward outcomes.
  • Identify new directions for assignments and/or projects, integrating cross‑functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues, provide advice to People Leaders, mitigate risk, develop new policies and strengthen controls in relation to the work done.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources and communicate complex information to stakeholders.

Future Xcelerator Programme

This two‑year accelerated development opportunity is designed for high‑potential, future‑focused talent with a passion for technology, data and innovation. Participants will align with business‑critical initiatives across Business Banking, use data, insight and emerging technologies – including AI – to shape smarter banking solutions, support product and proposition development, and contribute to strategic change initiatives.

Rotation across key areas such as Customer Journey Labs, Product and Transformation, Strategy and Segmentation, Structured Finance and Relationship Management will build breadth of experience and an internal network. Participants work with senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams across Risk, Compliance and Technology to deliver well‑controlled, sustainable solutions and support the end‑to‑end lifecycle of product development.

Structured development, tailored coaching and cohort‑based learning will culminate in a permanent role within Business Banking, with the skills and exposure to continue growing a career.

Locations & Working Model

The role can be based in London, Manchester or Birmingham. Barclays operates a hybrid working model – colleagues are expected to attend the office on agreed anchor days in line with the team they join.
