An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a respected public sector organisation at a pivotal point in its commercial development. As the organisation launches its first Commercial Strategy and continuous improvement programme, there is a genuine opportunity to influence the future direction of commercial activity and help embed best practice across the business.

Working within a collaborative commercial team, you will play a key role in delivering value for money, supporting responsible stewardship of public funds, and driving commercial excellence across a diverse range of procurement and contract management activities.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced procurement, commercial, contract management or supplier management professional looking to broaden their exposure across the full commercial lifecycle while working closely with senior stakeholders.

Your New Role

As an Associate Commercial Lead, you will support and lead commercial activity from strategy development through to procurement delivery, contract management, supplier performance and commercial governance. You will act as a trusted commercial adviser to stakeholders, providing expert guidance, challenge and assurance to support informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of commercial strategies aligned to organisational priorities.
  • Leading and supporting end-to-end public sector procurement activity and sourcing exercises.
  • Developing procurement and sourcing strategies that deliver value for money and compliance.
  • Conducting market engagement and supplier negotiations to secure positive commercial outcomes.
  • Managing contracts and supplier relationships, including performance management, governance and risk mitigation.
  • Providing commercial advice to stakeholders and influencing commercially sound decisions.
  • Supporting commercial governance, assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiencies and wider organisational value.

This role offers broad exposure across procurement, commercial management, contract management, supplier relationship management and stakeholder engagement, making it an excellent opportunity for career development.

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrable experience within a public sector procurement, commercial, contract management or supplier management environment.
  • Strong knowledge of public sector procurement principles and commercial governance.
  • A sound understanding of end-to-end commercial lifecycle management.
  • Experience delivering value for money through procurement, negotiation, contract management or wider commercial activity.
  • The ability to identify, assess and manage commercial risks effectively.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and business partnering skills.
  • The confidence to provide professional challenge and influence commercial decision-making.

Experience in contract mobilisation, category management, supplier relationship management, commercial reporting or transition planning would be advantageous.

What You’ll Get in Return
  • The opportunity to help shape and influence a newly established Commercial Strategy.
  • Exposure to a varied and interesting commercial and procurement portfolio.
  • Significant stakeholder engagement and business partnering opportunities.
  • A chance to broaden your experience across the full commercial lifecycle.
  • Hybrid working arrangements with a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a public sector organisation committed to delivering value and continuous improvement.
