The role

Are you a Commercial and Construction Solicitor looking to work on some of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects?

At SSEN Transmission, we're building the network needed to deliver a cleaner, more secure energy future. As we continue to invest in the electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland, we're growing our Construction & Commercial Legal Team and are seeking talented solicitors to join us. Whether you're newly qualified or an experienced legal professional, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside project delivery teams, engineers, procurement specialists and senior stakeholders, helping to shape nationally significant projects that will support the transition to net zero for generations to come.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career within a collaborative in-house legal team, providing practical, commercially-focused advice across a broad range of construction, engineering, commercial and regulatory matters.

You will
  • Support the delivery of major infrastructure and construction projects through clear, pragmatic legal advice.
  • Work closely with colleagues across project delivery, procurement, operations, asset management and regulation, building trusted relationships.
  • Advise on construction, engineering, commercial and procurement contracts, helping teams navigate risk and make informed decisions.
  • Contribute to a safe, collaborative and high-performing culture where knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are encouraged.
  • Play a meaningful role in helping SSEN Transmission deliver the network required to support the UK's energy transition and net zero ambitions.
You have
  • Qualification as a Solicitor in Scotland and/or England & Wales, with experience as a newly qualified or at senior solicitor level.
  • Experience or a genuine interest in construction, engineering, commercial contracts, infrastructure or energy-related legal matters.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to provide practical and commercially aware advice.
  • A collaborative approach and a desire to work closely with business stakeholders to find solutions and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Sound judgement, curiosity and the ability to manage competing priorities within a dynamic project environment.
Why Join SSEN Transmission?

This is a rare opportunity to work at the heart of one of the UK's largest infrastructure investment programmes. You'll be part of a supportive and welcoming legal team, gain exposure to complex and high-profile projects, and contribute to the delivery of infrastructure that will connect renewable energy, strengthen energy security and support communities across the UK. Most importantly, you'll see the impact of your work, helping to build the network for net zero and shape the future of energy.
