Whether you're interested in digital transformation, HR, project delivery or organisational development, this internship will provide an excellent foundation for your future career.

As part of the WMCA Year Intern Programme, you'll work on meaningful projects while developing the professional skills and experience needed to bridge the gap between academic study and employment. You'll also benefit from mentoring, structured learning and regular support throughout your placement.

This opportunity is open to penultimate‑year university students able to commit to a 12‑month internship, as well as recent graduates looking to build their skills and gain valuable workplace experience.

What you'll be doing

You’ll support a variety of digital projects across the People & Culture function, including:

  • Supporting the delivery of digital transformation initiatives across People & Culture.
  • Designing and building engaging, accessible intranet pages for the new People Hub on the WMCA Intranet using Microsoft Sharepoint.
  • Assisting with research and analysis to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Providing administrative support for projects, meetings, workshops and events.
  • Learning how digital tools, systems and technology support modern People & Culture services.
  • Taking part in training, mentoring and networking opportunities throughout the internship.
  • Working collaboratively while demonstrating professionalism, integrity and excellent customer service.
Essential Criteria

You’ll have:

  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above), or equivalent.
  • Be currently studying towards an undergraduate or postgraduate degree (in technology/digital subject or related field) and able to undertake a 12‑month internship or be a recent graduate.
  • Experience of supporting projects, events or group activities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise your workload.
  • Good analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A willingness to learn, show initiative and take ownership of your development.
  • An awareness of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • The ability to work effectively in a hybrid working environment.
