Job Description & How to Apply Below

Closing date: 15th September 2026. Interviews will take place week commencing 21st September 2026 A bit about the role... The Economics team is looking to recruit two Analysts
- Economists.

You will be joining a friendly, highly skilled and experienced team of 16 economists, led by Head of Economics, Jo Brotherhood. Together, we play a key role in supporting Homes England's strategic objectives through high-quality analysis and advice.

Our team is highly collaborative, values diverse perspectives and experiences, and is driven by a shared commitment to problem solving and delivering meaningful impact.

This is a rare opportunity to be involved in implementing housing policy, working across Homes England and the National Housing Bank to support the delivery of social value. Working closely with key stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams, you will help solve complex problems, inform investment decisions, and ensure resources are directed where they can achieve the greatest impact and value for money.

You will support the development and economic appraisal of ambitious housing and regeneration projects that transform places and improve people's lives. A key part of the role will be contributing to project business cases, including assessing value for money as part of the economic case.

You will also help develop the tools, processes and approaches used by the team to undertake economic appraisal and cost-benefit analysis. Alongside supporting the organisation's day-to-day priorities, you will have opportunities to undertake research, contribute to our evidence base, and apply innovative and strategic thinking to improve our understanding of what works, where, and why.

A bit about you

We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine enthusiasm for learning. You will enjoy working collaboratively, building relationships with stakeholders, sharing insights, and contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture.

Ideally, you will have an interest in, or experience of, housing, regeneration, economic development, or a related field, together with some exposure to business case development.

You will have experience of undertaking economic analysis, ideally economic appraisal. Alternatively, you may have a strong track record in quantitative analysis, data analytics, or modelling, with a demonstrated interest in economics and public policy.

You will hold a degree (minimum 2:1) or postgraduate qualification. Ideally, at least 50% of your degree content will have been in economics. We will also consider candidates with other analytical degree disciplines who can demonstrate a strong interest in economics.

You will have experience of working in small teams to produce high-quality economic research and analysis as one discipline, collaborating within a broader multifunctional team. You will also have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex economic concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

For one of these roles, advanced Excel skills are essential (including experience with Power Query, dynamic array formulas and advanced lookup functions), or a strong willingness to develop these skills. Experience of Power BI would be advantageous.
