Estimator, Construction, Building & Residential Construction

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join a hugely respected regional main contractor. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates, supporting tender submissions, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects

* Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents

* Conduct take-offs and quantify materials, labour, and plant costs

* Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations

* Prepare and submit tender documentation within deadlines

* Identify risks and opportunities within project budgets

* Work closely with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams

* Maintain cost databases and pricing schedules

* Assist with value engineering and cost control where required

Requirements

* Proven experience as a Construction Estimator

* Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

* Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills

* Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel

* Strong communication and negotiation skills

* Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Desirable (but not essential)

* Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar

* Knowledge of local building regulations and standards
