A leading family-owned construction contractor with operations across the UK and Ireland is seeking an experienced Materials Buyer to join its London team. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will manage day-to-day procurement for allocated projects, ensuring materials and plant are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with project requirements.

• Place material and plant orders with approved suppliers
• Obtain quotations and negotiate pricing
• Source compliant materials and suitable alternatives
• Expedite orders and resolve delivery or invoice queries
• Manage plant hire and off-hire, maintaining accurate registers
• Identify and assess new suppliers
• Work within company QA and procurement procedures

• Minimum 5 years experience as a Materials Buyer within construction (main contractor experience essential)
• Strong technical knowledge of construction materials and small plant
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
• Confident working independently and managing multiple priorities
• Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office; purchasing systems an advantage)
