We are seeking an experienced DFG Surveyor to join our housing adaptations team, delivering essential home modification works funded through the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) scheme. You will play a key role in enabling residents with disabilities to live safely and independently in their homes by assessing, designing, and delivering suitable adaptations in partnership with Occupational Therapists and contractors.

Colchester / Hybrid / Site-based across local authority area
Contract:
Permanent Salary: £35,000 £ 45,000 (DOE)
Key Responsibilities Carry out detailed home surveys to assess suitability for adaptations Work closely with Occupational Therapists (OTs) to determine client requirements Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and schedules of work Produce accurate cost estimates and feasibility assessments Manage DFG cases from initial assessment through to completion Oversee contractors and ensure works are delivered to specification Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and progress monitoring Ensure compliance with Building Regulations (Part M) and health & safety standards Liaise with residents, families, contractors, and council officers Manage variations, valuations, and project documentation Skills & Experience Required Experience in building surveying, architecture, or construction management Strong knowledge of domestic construction and accessibility standards Understanding of Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) processes (preferred but not essential) Ability to produce and interpret technical drawings (AutoCAD desirable) Experience managing contractors and site works Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site visits
