At WPS (Wates Property Services), we're looking for a driven and ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Responsive Maintenance division in the West Midlands.

The OpportunityAs an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll support the Site & Project Surveyors in delivering commercial excellence across projects — from pre-contract planning to post-contract delivery.

What You'll Be Doing Commercial & Financial- Assist with site measurements and take‑offs
- Support accurate cost reporting & monthly CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations)
- Maintain detailed site records (materials, plant, variations, day works)
- Develop understanding of contractual obligations and commercial strategies
- Support measurement & valuation processes
- Contribute to subcontract procurement and cost tracking
- Learn and apply Wates commercial processes to maximise value
- Build relationships with:
- Site teams
- Subcontractors
- Commercial teams
- Communicate professionally with stakeholders and support the customer journey
- Carry out site safety sampling
- Support continuous improvement of SHEQ standards
- Drive your own growth through training plans and PDRs
- Take ownership of your progression and career pathway
- Studying towards or completed a Construction/Quantity Surveying degree
- Basic understanding of:
- Cost control
- Measurement & valuation
- Commercial principles
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Proactive, organised, and eager to learn
