Assistant Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Building team, supporting the commercial delivery of projects across the West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop their career within a leading Tier 1 contractor environment while working towards professional accreditation.
You will support the commercial management of construction projects, assisting with cost control, subcontractor administration, valuations, and financial reporting to help ensure successful project outcomes. Working alongside experienced commercial and operational teams, you will gain exposure to all aspects of project commercial management and be supported in your professional development.
Responsibilities- Assist with measurement, valuations, cost reporting, and commercial administration across one or more projects.
- Support the preparation of payment applications, subcontractor accounts, and variations in accordance with contract requirements.
- Assist with subcontract procurement, performance monitoring, and commercial management of trade packages.
- Contribute to monthly cost/value reconciliations, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Work closely with project teams to identify commercial risks, opportunities, and support successful project delivery.
You will be a motivated and detail-focused individual with a genuine interest in developing a career in Quantity Surveying within the construction industry.
You will bring:
- Experience with in a construction, commercial, or quantity surveying environment, including measurement and valuation activities.
- Understanding of construction drawings, contracts, cost control processes, and subcontract administration.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project team.
Working towards professional accreditation such as RICS, CIOB, or ICES and holding a relevant CSCS card would be advantageous.
