We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Building Safety Officer. In this role, you will help ensure our multi‑occupied residential buildings remain safe for residents to occupy, with a particular focus on supporting vulnerable customers through the implementation and maintenance of Residential Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (RPEEPs).

You will act as a key point of contact across the organisation, working closely with residents, contractors, colleagues, and external agencies to deliver high standards of building and fire safety compliance.

4040 Lakeside, Birmingham

Hours:

37 hours per week, 12 month FTC This post is government funded

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct PCFRAs and RPEEPs, ensuring plans are implemented, reviewed, and maintained.
  • Identify evacuation risks, escape routes, and necessary adjustments to support resident safety.
  • Liaise with residents, carers, contractors, Fire & Rescue Services, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, registers, and Site Information Boxes in line with legal and NFCC requirements.
  • Carry out inspections of buildings, communal areas, and contractor works, identifying defects and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Produce technical reports and provide practical solutions on fire safety, building safety, and maintenance issues.
Qualifications and experience
  • HNC/HND in a building‑related subject with relevant experience in a similar role;
  • or
  • City & Guilds qualification in a relevant subject with significant relevant experience.
  • Practical experience and sound technical knowledge of fire safety regulations, including fire door inspections and remediation works linked to Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs).
  • Knowledge of the Fire Safety (Residential Evacuation Plans) (England) Regulations 2025.
  • Experience managing construction or maintenance installations with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence, ability to travel as required.
