Quantity Surveyor – Major Infrastructure Project

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + Car Allowance/Company Car + Comprehensive Benefits Package
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK's leading main contractors, working on one of the most significant infrastructure projects currently under construction in the UK.
Based in Birmingham, you will play a key commercial role in the delivery of a series of high-value headhouse structures that will form part of the projects critical operational infrastructure. These complex buildings will house essential systems including ventilation, fire suppression, telecommunications, power and other key equipment to ensure the safe operation of the site once it becomes fully operational.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to work on a landmark project with long-term career prospects, gain exposure to a major infrastructure project and the support of an industry-leading contractor.
The RoleReporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of the project from procurement through to final account, ensuring the best possible commercial performance whilst maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
Key responsibilities- Subcontract procurement and package management
- Cost reporting, forecasting and budgeting
- Managing subcontractor accounts and payments
- Valuations, variations and change control
- Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts
- Risk and opportunity management
- Commercial support to operational project teams
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures
You will ideally possess:
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor
- Strong understanding of the NEC contract and sound commercial management skillsi>
- Experience managing subcontractor packages
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work within a fast-paced project environment
- Relevant construction-related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
Whilst not essential, experience of MEP packages would be highly advantageous given the nature of the works, which incorporate specialist mechanical, electrical, fire suppression, ventilation and telecommunications systems.
