What you'll be doing
Work with the HSW Director to develop and ensure the delivery of the Business Unit/Project Zero Harm Strategy. Deputise for the HSW Director when required.

Manage the recruitment and development of HSW professionals within their chain of command, including coaching and mentoring as required.

Develop professional relationships with regulators, customers, JV partners and the supply chain.

Undertake health and safety compliance evaluations, tours and audits as required and ensure sufficient assurance of project  conjunction with Executive General Managers, Managing Directors and Directors, carry out project and business sector HSW performance reviews and reporting using lagging and leading indicators.

Review and investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events in accordance with Balfour Beatty standards to identify and share lessons learned across the business, ensuring actions are progressed through the serious incident review process.

Work with the wider BB HSW team to promote Zero Harm and continuous improvement of performance.
Who we're looking for
The following qualities/experience are essential:

Corporate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (or working towards).NEBOSH Diploma or NCRQ qualification.

Must have detailed, technical knowledge and experience Health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance.

Construction industry experience (or experience in an equivalent sector) and in particular CDM (where work within a specific construction sector experience is advantageous then specify).Must have prior experience of providing leadership and support to operational and functional teams and of working at a senior level.
