Freelance Site Engineer

Elvet Recruitment are recruiting for a Freelance Civil Site Engineer on behalf of a reputable civil engineering contractor to work on a new upcoming project in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

The contractor are delivering a varied groundworks & muckshift package for social housing upgrades. The work will include: topsoil strip, paving, road upgrades, surfacing, services and some landscaping & external works.

The project will run from September 2026 to mid-2027, with potential further phases to be confirmed.

Duties:

* Survey existing levels and keep on top of volumes of cut to evidence when claiming in application

* Set out all services as per GPR and keep records of all exposed and potentially lowered

* Survey existing and setting out of all new footpaths, steps and fencing

* Create as built records throughout, of all works

* Manage the QA side of delivery

* Raise RFI's and TQ's

* Support the Site Manager

Experience required:

* Must have proven experience as Site Engineer within groundworks / civils

* Must be confident with use of GPS and Total Station

* Must have the ability to process volume reports

* Industry related qualification is beneficial (HNC/HND or Degree)

* Ideally have own kit but not essential

* Must hold: CSCS card and full driving license

Pay:

A rate of up to £350 per day (doe).

Can be paid CIS. Or Ltd company outside IR-35 providing contractors meet requirements. Elvet Recruitment has an IR-35 partner who provide checks and IR-35 insurance.
