We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major national construction and regeneration business with a significant and growing workload across the Midlands.
The position will cover the western side of the region, broadly following the M6/M5 corridor from Stoke through the West Midlands and down towards Cheltenham, including Coventry and surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially strong Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience across social housing, planned maintenance and/or retrofit programmes.
The Role
Working across a portfolio of existing and upcoming projects, you will take commercial responsibility for schemes from procurement and pre-start through delivery, final account and completion.
Projects will predominantly sit within the social housing and regeneration sector, including planned investment programmes, refurbishment, energy-efficiency improvements and retrofit works.
Typical responsibilities will include:
* Full commercial management of projects and programmes
* Procurement and management of subcontractors
* Cost planning, forecasting and reporting
* Applications, valuations and payments
* Managing variations and change
* Monitoring project costs and commercial performance
* Contract administration
* Risk and opportunity management
* Working closely with operational and client teams
* Managing subcontractor accounts
* Final accounts and project close-out
* Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members
What Are We Looking For?
The ideal candidate will already have strong Quantity Surveying experience within social housing or planned works.
Experience across retrofit, decarbonisation, energy-efficiency programmes or high-rise refurbishment/retrofit would be particularly attractive.
You will ideally have:
* Strong social housing experience
* Planned maintenance / planned works experience
* Retrofit experience ideally
* High-rise retrofit experience would be a significant bonus
* Strong subcontractor procurement and management skills
* Excellent cost reporting and forecasting ability
* Good contractual and commercial knowledge
* The confidence to manage client relationships
* Experience taking commercial responsibility for multiple projects or work streams
* A relevant Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management qualification
The Opportunity
This is a chance to join a large, established business with a significant presence within housing, regeneration and partnership-led construction.
With retrofit and improvement programmes becoming an increasingly important part of the social housing market, the role offers excellent long-term prospects for a Senior QS who already understands this environment.
Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 + package
