Senior Quantity Surveyor - Social Housing / Planned Works / Retrofit
M6 / M5 Corridor | Stoke to Cheltenham / Coventry | £55,000 - £65,000 + Package
We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major national construction and regeneration business with a significant and growing workload across the Midlands.
The position will cover the western side of the region, broadly following the M6/M5 corridor from Stoke through the West Midlands and down towards Cheltenham, including Coventry and surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially strong Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience across social housing, planned maintenance and/or retrofit programmes.
The RoleWorking across a portfolio of existing and upcoming projects, you will take commercial responsibility for schemes from procurement and pre-start through delivery, final account and completion.
Projects will predominantly sit within the social housing and regeneration sector, including planned investment programmes, refurbishment, energy-efficiency improvements and retrofit works.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Full commercial management of projects and programmes
- Procurement and management of subcontractors
- Cost planning, forecasting and reporting
- Applications, valuations and payments
- Managing variations and change
- Monitoring project costs and commercial performance
- Contract administration
- Risk and opportunity management
- Working closely with operational and client teams
- Managing subcontractor accounts
- Final accounts and project close-out
- Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members
The ideal candidate will already have strong Quantity Surveying experience within social housing or planned works.
Experience across retrofit, decarbonisation, energy-efficiency programmes or high-rise refurbishment/retrofit would be particularly attractive.
You will ideally have:
- Strong social housing experience
- Planned maintenance / planned works experience
- Retrofit experience ideally
- High-rise retrofit experience would be a significant bonus
- Strong subcontractor procurement and management skills
- Excellent cost reporting and forecasting ability
- Good contractual and commercial knowledge
- The confidence to manage client relationships
- Experience taking commercial responsibility for multiple projects or work streams
- A relevant Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management qualification
