An experienced Surfacing Supervisor – Civils is required for an established highways, surfacing and civil engineering contractor. The role combines site supervision with planning and coordination, overseeing multiple gangs and ensuring surfacing and associated civils works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.

The successful Surfacing Supervisor will have a strong background in asphalt, surfacing, highways or civils and be confident managing teams across multiple sites.

The position is based from the company's Middlesex office, with projects primarily covering Surrey, Hillingdon and the London Boroughs. The role involves regular site visits alongside office-based planning and coordination.

This is a permanent position working generally Monday to Friday, with full working days and a Saturday half day.

The company is a privately owned highways, surfacing and civil engineering contractor established in 1975. It specialises in highway maintenance, asphalt surfacing, paving, footway construction, street works and associated civil engineering for Local Authorities, highways agencies, contractors and developers across London and the South East. The business operates its own specialist planing, milling, asphalt paving and other plant, supported by an experienced directly employed workforce.

The business has an established reputation within the highways and surfacing sector, with a long-standing workforce and significant in-house plant capability. The role offers genuine responsibility across site delivery and planning, working alongside experienced operational and senior management teams.

The Surfacing Supervisor will oversee day-to-day delivery across multiple surfacing and associated civils sites, coordinating directly employed teams and subcontractors while keeping labour, plant and materials aligned with programme requirements.

• Supervising 2 – 4 surfacing and civils gangs across multiple sites.
• Coordinating asphalt, surfacing, footway and associated civils works.
• Planning labour, plant and materials to maintain programme.
• Conducting site inspections, toolbox talks, briefings and quality checks.
• Maintaining accurate site records and progress information while resolving issues promptly.
• Liaising with Project Managers, clients, subcontractors, Local Authorities and senior management.

To be successful as a Surfacing Supervisor, you will need proven supervisory experience within surfacing, asphalt, highways or civil engineering environments. The role would particularly suit someone with practical knowledge of surfacing operations who can manage several teams while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and delivery.

• Proven experience supervising surfacing, asphalt, highways or civils works.
• Strong knowledge of road surfacing, footways, roadworks and associated civils.
• Valid CSCS card.
• SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
• Full UK driving licence and strong communication skills.
