Reporting to:
Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager

The Role

We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in civil engineering and major infrastructure, particularly bridges, earthworks and structures.

You’ll support the commercial delivery of key project sections, taking responsibility for subcontractor management, commercial reporting and contractual administration. Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager and delivery teams, you’ll play a key role in protecting the project's commercial position and ensuring subcontract packages are managed effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the commercial aspects of civil engineering packages, including bridges, earthworks and structures.
  • Take ownership of subcontractor management, including procurement, tendering, valuations, payments and final accounts.
  • Prepare subcontract tender packages, evaluate returns and make recommendations on subcontractor appointments.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, costs, variations and contractual obligations.
  • Support commercial reporting, cost control and risk management across the project.
  • Build strong working relationships with subcontractors, client representatives and the wider project team.
  • Work closely with site and delivery teams to identify commercial opportunities, resolve issues and maintain project performance.
  • Ensure contractual, commercial and legal processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or major infrastructure.
  • Strong experience across bridges, earthworks, structures or associated heavy civils packages.
  • Proven subcontractor management experience, including procurement, commercial negotiations and cost control.
  • Experience managing subcontract valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Good understanding of commercial and contractual processes.
  • Confident working closely with site teams, subcontractors and senior commercial stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will combine strong heavy civils experience with the commercial skills to manage subcontractors effectively and protect project margins.
