Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Senior Producer (Maternity Cover)

China Plate are theatre and arts producers with offices in Birmingham and London, working across the UK and internationally. We’re a charity, and we help people to make creative projects happen – from theatre shows, to audio anthologies, to bus stop galleries.

Our Senior Producer is going on maternity leave from November this year. We’re looking for an experienced and dynamic producer to cover her portfolio of projects while she is on leave. This will include opening a major new musical in London and a national midscale tour in 2027. You’ll also work on the development of an orchestral collaboration and several smaller scale studio shows.

As the Senior Producer you’ll be supported by our two Co-Artistic Directors, who act as Executive Producers across all China Plate projects, as well as by the rest of our skilled and friendly team. The role’s start date includes time for a handover with our current Senior Producer before she begins her maternity leave. The contract is for twelve months, from 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027
.

At China Plate we work with different producers in different ways, and not all of us come from theatre backgrounds. Our Senior Producer role, however,
does require theatre or relevant live performance experience
. This maternity cover position would best suit a producer who has experience of large and complex projects e.g. midscale theatre tours, West End productions, outdoor festival events, and/or complex community productions. It would be ideal for someone who enjoys taking a leadership role and is ready to hit the ground running, managing creative teams and ensuring effective delivery. We’re looking for someone with at least five years of relevant arts experience.

You could be based in either our Birmingham or our London office. We are also open to job shares, and to the possibility of remote working with specific on‑site presence.

Final date to receive applications close at 11am on Monday 20 July 2026.
